Homel, this 3-day all-inclusive expedition combines expert-guided exploration with world-class photography opportunities. You’ll traverse lush island forests, coastal cliffs, and secluded coves—capturing iconic species like the Tres Marías Yellow-headed Parrot, Tres Marías Hummingbird, and Lawrence’s Dove in their natural environment.

About the Islas Marías National Park

Located 71 miles off the coast of Nayarit, the Islas Marías Archipelago is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of Mexico’s newest national parks.
Once a restricted penal colony, it now offers visitors a unique glimpse into untouched ecosystems filled with endemic wildlife and breathtaking scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Crossing

  • Depart from Puerto Vallarta or San Blas on a high-speed, climate-controlled catamaran (approx. 4 hours).

  • Onboard video presentations and seabird watching during transit.

  • Arrival at Isla María Madre and check-in at private island cabanas.

Day 2 – Endemic Bird Photography

  • Full-day guided excursions focusing on:

    • Tres Marías Yellow-headed Parrot (in flight and nesting)

    • Tres Marías Hummingbird — the world’s most range-restricted hummingbird

    • Other endemic and migratory species of the Pacific islands

  • Optional night birding sessions for owls and nocturnal species.

Day 3 – Morning Birding & Return

  • Early morning photography session.

  • Return by boat to mainland.
